Allods Online

Review

Allods Online is a Free-to-Play (F2P) Fantasy MMORPG that has likely caused some worry in the world of the Pay-to-Play (P2P) MMOs recently; it offers a high-quality, one-of-a-kind MMORPG experience without asking you to purchase it, or pay a monthly fee. This has happened before, but not like this. Allods Online should not be free. It’s just that good.

To give you a sense of what Allods Online offers: there are 2 warring factions, 6 races, 8 archetypes, 28 classes, hundreds of skills, and over 1,500 quests. The 6 class Archetypes begin with the Warrior, Paladin, Scout, Warden, Mage, Summoner, and the Psionicist. From there, it all depends on what race you choose (and there are many of them, too), as that then depicts your class.

Once you’ve created your character you’ll begin playing in a unique starting area deepening on your chosen faction. If any of this is starting to sounds familiar, that’s likely because it is. Yes, like so many before it, Allods Online is very heavily inspired by the smash-hit P2P MMORPG World of Warcraft; though there is a lot that set the two apart.

And I’m not just talking about the fact that Allods Online won’t ask you to pay, either. Allods Online has its own set of rules for combat that in many ways supersede those found in World of Warcraft. How? Well, In Allods you can dictate your character’s growth by allocating skill points, such as strength or dexterity, to give your character a unique edge in combat, and a real sense of individuality.

Even your choice of weapon will dictate your combat style. Choose a large, 2-Handed sword and you can expect to find that you’ll need to wait longer before you can use skills; however, choose a 1-Handed Dagger and you’ll find that the refresh rate is much shorter.

Combined then with the amazing visuals and enormous world filled to the brim with quests and engaging characters, you can begin to see why Allods Online has received the global praise and recognition that it has. It’s a lot like World of Warcraft – in some aspects, you might even find that it’s better – and once again; it’s free. There’s a cash-shop that will allow you to buy a number of character and game enhancements, but none of them are truly necessary, and even without them, Allods Online remains at the very top of the F2P MMORPG list, and too, remains a title that everyone, hardcore MMORPG enthusiast and first-time player alike, simply must try. In this reviewer’s humble opinion, Allods Online is the cream of the crop. This is as good as it gets.

Allods is just the best, i can say to the WoW players that they have to stop with playing WoW and go play Allods. It's much better, and like they have to make it like tc commercial, but then free not with paying if they do that i bet they will get more 15 mil. players.

Now, I'm an FPS player. Always have been, always will be. But Allods changed me into an MMO player. That's how good it was. It was good enough to take a die-hard FPS player and make him appreciate all MMOs. The PVP is balanced, the lore is amazing, and the PvE is just stellar. The classes are well thought, and the graphics are astounding. Customer support is helpful and the publisher is sectionalized by region, so that you have a higher chance of getting the best support possible. And I can't just stop there without mentioning the music. Search Allods Online Soundtrack on YouTube, and you'll see what I mean. Each and every tune is played by an ORCHESTRA - and a darned good one, too. All MMOs have their problems, and Allods isn't an exception. But with how much money went into its development, and how fast they're working out the bugs, I'm sure Allods will get right up there as one of the best F2P games of its time.

This is one of the best MMO's I've ever played, including F2P and P2P. Its very fun, regardless if there is a mini map or not. Its very easy to get into and get hooked on. I've tried most the F2P games and simply could not get into any of them. About the only ones I've even so much as picked up twice were Pangya and Wonderking. The rest of them just werent to great. Too many issues, not enough direction, not enough fun, too much bull**** cluttering everything up, too foreign. Etc. Even on some of the P2P games, WOW is about the only MMO I've ever liked. Never really tried any of the other P2P mmos. Don't really play many other games besides Texas Holdem Poker from Zynga on Facebook. I really enjoy this game. Its fun and easy to pick up and play. Its got a good thing going for it, you wouldnt believe its a free to play game. Its just a pretty solid game through and through.
