The world of Kitsu Saga is governed by two factions, the Order of the Iron Claw and the Flamewind Society, who each offer 4 distinct class styles. That’s a small slice of the back-story included with Kitsu Saga, the new Oriental-Fantasy MMORPG Korean developer X-Legend. It nicely frames the premise for the story, but also, it competently and accurately depicts your role as a player; you’re a skilled martial artist, you’ll need to use those skills to embark on a journey of dangerous adventure, and you’ll be accompanied by a companion, called a Kitsu, who will assist you in every way possible.

When you begin playing Kitsu Saga for the first time you’ll be asked to create your character, and in order to do that, you’ll need to first choose a faction. There are two: the Order of the Iron Claw, and the Flamewind Society, and although the differences between the two are minor in the beginning, they soon become the key to unlocking your style.

If you choose the Order of the Iron Claw, you’ll soon be given the choice between one of 4 unique classes; the Godhand Style, which serves a Fighter role allowing the use of dual swords; the Clearmind Style, which allows you to heal and buff your friends; the Cloudstrider Style, who control the power of lightning and wind; and the Mistsong Style, which specializes in ranged attacking. If you choose the Flamewind Society, you’ll have access to the Asura Style, which allows the use of Polearm weapons; the Watermoon Style, which harnesses the power of water to heal and support allies; the Astral Omen style, which serves as an Assassin role, and the Heaven Sword Style, which can repel powerful magic.

From there, the world is your oyster, and the options for growth are limitless. You can quest to increase your level and train new skills (which is made significantly easier by the addition of a quest helper which transports you to your quest objective seamlessly, making it a great addition for new players to the genre), slay monsters to collect new items and equipment, and even utilize your very own Kitsu Cottage, a private home for your character that can be used to collect resources for trade and crafting.

Now, take all of that, put it into a soup pot, and add some of the most gorgeous anime-inspired visuals of any MMORPG to date and you’ll have Kitsu Saga, a prominent entry into the MMORPG community that is sure to keep you entertained for months to come.
