New Study About Why Gamers Cheat Released

Behaviour and Information Technology recently published a new study by Vivian Hsueh-Hua Chen and Yuehua Wu titled, “Group identification as a mediator of the effect of players’ anonymity on cheating in online games”. This study looked in to how other players might effect whether a player cheats or not based on the stance of that particular group.

It essentially says that while players are likely to cheat when anonymous, they are also very likely to do so if they belong to a social group made up of cheaters.
