Top 5 MMOs of 2010
by Cody Hargreaves
It 2011. That happened fast, didn’t it? I love a new year. I know that new games are going to be released soon and I can’t wait to try them all. But there were a lot of new games released last year; some good, some bad. I am often asked which games were my favourite, which games do I remember most fondly, and which do I still play? So I made a list of them all, so that you can try them too. These are my favourite Free-to-Play MMOs of 2010 —œ have you tried them all?
5. KITSU SAGA
Kitsu Saga is an Oriental-Fantasy MMORPG with gorgeous anime-inspired visuals and a unique companion system that offers each you your very own Kitsu, a Fox Spirit pet, which will accompany you on your adventure.
The world of Kitsu Saga is governed by two factions, the Order of the Iron Claw and the Flamewind Society, who each offer 4 distinct class styles. The Iron Claw Faction offer the Godhand, Clearmind, Cloudstrider and Mistsong classes, while the Flamewind Society offer the Asura, Watermoon, Astral Omen and Heaven Sword.
4. WOLF TEAM
WolfTeam is a Tactical MMOFPS that closely resembles shooters like Counter-Strike and Half-Life, though with a slight twist: while you begin playing each game as a Marine, you can also transform into a Werewolf.
Putting aside the ability to play as a Werewolf, WolfTeam is a traditional MMOFPS that utilises all of the genre favourite features such as upgradeable weapons, multiple game modes and an equipment store that sells new items and weapons to assist your matchmaking domination.
3. AVALON HEROES
Avalon Heroes is an Action MMORPG that offers a unique combination of real-time strategy and role playing elements to create a dynamic multi-player arena.
Avalon Heroes also offers a single-player Campaign Mode that will see you choose between one of 35 unique heroes and embark upon an epic journey to rid the world of the terrible evil that plagues it.
2. LAND OF CHAOS ONLINE (LOCO)
Land of Chaos Online (LOCO) is a Tactical, Action MMORPG that combines real time strategy, action role playing, and third-person shooting to create a unique hybrid MMO.
LOCO is both an intense and thrilling game that requires strategic intelligence, fast decisions and rapid, accurate controls. Additionally, you can choose 3 of more that 12 unique and strategically individual characters, and swap between them before each battle.
1. ALLODS ONLINE
Allods Online is a Fantasy MMORPG that blends Sci-Fi and Medieval Fantasy together to create a truly unique world.
Allods Online offers a world filled with 2 warring factions, 6 races, 8 archetypes, 28 classes, hundreds of skills, and over 1,500 quests. Set on magical islands – called the Allods – floating in the astral space, Allods Online not only offers a fully-realised MMORPG experience without a monthly fee, but it does so with all the care and affection of an MMO that does require a fee, offering an experience that is simply too good not to try.
