Requiring no more than a browser and access to the website, players can become a king of the realm in this empire building strategy game. 1100AD begins by giving the player an empty plot of land in the persistent medieval world, which players will begin to build their first city. Learning to play the game is a breeze with an extensive tutorial system that guides players through setting up a steady flow of resources and income, while teaching players about all the different bells and whistles of the game.

Players can continue to expand to other parts of the land, but always reminded of the fact that other players are sharing the same world. Starting off with two weeks of newbie protection, players are safe for a period of time that is long enough to establish fortifications. After this time period however, a player city is open for siege. At this point players can begin their grab for power, sending out to settle on other land, making contact with nearby players to arrange alliances and building an unmatched army ready for anyone who dares challenge them.

Once reaching the point of undeniable power, a player can begin to work out trade deals with other players for resources and future expansion. Players are also given the option to rob those cities that are less willing to hand over their resources, without destroying them completely. As a players influence grows through the kingdom, and more cities that are conquered or established; the player can become king of that land. The player may shape their land however they wish, ruling over it with a keen eye and fending off any who wish to claim it.

All this action might seem like it requires a great deal of time investment, but thankfully it doesn’t and with just a few clicks an empire is born. 1100AD offers players the ability to let A.I perform a lot of the operations itself, minimizing the time investment required to play. The only question is, how will you rule your kingdom?
