Embers of Caerus is an upcoming next-gen, medieval fantasy sandbox MMORPG under development by Forsaken Studios. Recently, the developer announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign which sought funding to finish developing the prototype of this sandbox MMORPG. In just six days the campaign reached its goal of $25,000 with one contributor handing over a hefty $10,000.
The developer isn’t concluding its search for funding yet either, and this isn’t out of greed. Sandbox MMORPGs aren’t considered by big developers as titles worthy of developing. Generally the market for this type of hardcore play-style are much smaller than that of a theme-park MMORPG. Forsaken Studios believes otherwise, and they want to show the big companies out there that there is a market for this type of game, and there are plenty of gamers who want it.
With this in mind, the developer has added a $1 pledge option for anyone who may want to contribute but doesn’t have the cash to spare. Not only will these people be recognized as contributors, but they will also be aiding Forsaken Studios in proving that there are people out there starving for something different, something new.
