Blade & Soul Features Blade Dancer Class

This week, NCSoft has revealed a little more information about the Blade Dancer class for Blade & Soul, which is exclusive to the Lyn Race.

The Blade Dancer is a unique class that combines the damage of the Blade Master and the elemental focus of the Force Master. Due to the Lyn’s small stature, the class emphasizes on outmaneuvering enemies as opposed to taking damage head on. With this added maneuverability comes added drawbacks as well. The Blade Dancer lacks defensive abilities of the Blade Master and crowd control of the Force Master.

With two different stances, Draw and Basic, Blade Dancers can make use of lightning and Wind elements. Draw Stance focuses on lightning abilities and has a buff that boosts damage for a short amount of time. Basic Stance, on the other hand, uses Wind Focus to increase the attack speed and damage of certain abilities.

“The Blade Dancer focuses on dealing two types of damage: Lightning and Wind. Not all skills will have an associated elemental damage, but those that do will have their damage increased with the selection of the right items. This is vital for the Blade Dancer, because unlike the versatility of their Force Master sibling, a Blade Dancer has to choose to focus on either Lightning or Wind abilities as part of their build.”

The high damage of the Blade Dancer makes them deadly in PvP, but enemies that catch them out of position will easily chew through their low health pool. Furthermore, many offensive and defensive Blade Dancer abilities require the use of Focus, which will require them to make split-second decisions.

Our Thoughts:

By combining swordplay and elements the Blade Dancer creates a unique hybrid class that has a high risk, high reward payout. The biggest downside is that the class is only available for the Lyn race, which might turn some players off to it.
