There. It’s finished. 2 days at E3 in the Los Angeles Convention Centre, and another 2 locked inside a seedy hotel room somewhere in Korea town, and it’s finished – a complete list of coverage previews with almost every recently announced MMO shown at E3.
It’s been one hell of a week, but we think you’ll be happy with the results. Read on, brothers and sisters, and discover some of the most highly anticipated MMOs of E3 2012 – and be sure to click through on the game title links below for in-depth previews on every game.
Age of Wushu (or Wulin if you’re in Europe) is an upcoming Free to Play martial arts themed MMORPG by Snail Games. This year at E3 2012, we had the chance to sit down and finally get some hands-on time with this hugely anticipated release. With innovation oozing out of every corner, it’s hard not to get even a little excited, even if eastern-themed MMOs aren’t something you are normally interested in playing – ED: and we wouldn’t blame you, they’re usually nothing like this.
Have you ever wished you could live inside the Internet, in a virtual world where anything is possible? I know I have, and I imagine those who have read the Otherland novels by Tad Williams have been dreaming of the day they could shed their mortal shell and join the ranks of the cyber-elite for a long time now.
Runes of Magic is a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG which is well renowned as the free World of Warcraft. MMOGames managed to sit down with publisher, FrogsterEU, and discover exactly what is in store for fans new and old. What’s on the way is a much needed content update that I am sure fans will enjoy, Chapter 5: Fires of Shadowforge.
Our final day at E3 2012 commenced with a slathering of titles from INNOGAMES, publishers of a wide collection of Free to Play MMOs the likes of Tribal Wars, Forge of Empires and Grepolis, with their announcement of the new pirate themed browser MMO, Kartuga.
Not a lot is currently known about this soon-to-release steampunk MMORPG from Snail Games and Russian game developer Mental Games, though, we had a quick chance to chat with Snail Games about the project at E3 2012.
Core Blaze, published by Gamania and expected for release early next year, is a visually stunning, fast-paced action MMORPG reminiscent of Nexon’s VindictusXE that utilises the Unreal 3 engine to push online gaming to new heights.
Kicking off our E3 tour with one of the most anticipated Free to Play MMORPGs of 2012, we sat down with FrogsterEU to discuss their upcoming Action MMORPG, RaiderZ.
The Perfect World booth at E3 2012 was an impressive sight to behold; giant, skeletal dragons, cosplay booth babes and enormous LCD screens adorned the area while hundreds lined up, eagerly awaiting their chance to sample the upcoming Free to Play MMORPG, Dungeons and Dragons: Neverwinter.
We’ve been following DUST 514 for a long time now at MMOGames.com, partly because it’s the first real console MMO that we’ve been able to devote attention to, but mostly because we’re enormous EVE nuts, and have been playing in the DUST 514 beta non-stop since release.
Defiance, another title from Trion Worlds that has been turning heads since it was announced. One of our main goals was to find out more about this interesting and very ambitious game, so I set out to find their booth and get some hands-on time.
Sitting down with Gamigo at E3 this year gave us a chance to take a look at two of their upcoming titles. One of these titles, Grimlands, is a third-person shooter MMORPG and a post-apocalyptic sandbox. Set in the future, the Earth has been devastated by earthquakes which brought destruction to the globe and the beginning of a struggle for survival.
In between meetings and rushing around the venue at E3 this year, we had a chance to discover some new titles that we hadn’t heard of before. Sometimes this can be a rewarding experience, you find some great games that you probably would have never heard of or payed attention to, and that’s what makes events like E3 so great. One of these titles is Rekoil, and upcoming multiplayer first-person shooter by Plastic Piranha.
Why does this look familiar? This was my first thought when I started playing Bullet Run at E3 this week. Turns out, in case you weren’t already aware, that this title also went by the name of Hedone and is pitched as an online reality TV game show. The show isn’t real of course, rather just an atmosphere and story behind why people are gunning each other down. Players fight for fame and glory, which requires more than just an itchy trigger finger.
Brick-Force is an upcoming free-to-play sandbox shooter which has captured the hearts of players all across the globe. The free online game features minecraft-esque map building, maps which can then be used as a playground for various types of FPS style matches. Recently, at E3 2012, Cody Hargreaves and myself joined Infernum Productions to take a look at new content coming to Brick-Force in the near future.
Possibly the most bizarre MMO title at E3 this year, Penguin Wars is an upcoming Free to Play MMOFPS from Snail Games that… well, we’re really not sure about. So far, we’ve heard this game referred to as Penguin Royale, The Penguin Wars, and simply, Penguin Wars – and we’re more than a little confused.
We sat down with publishing giant We Made Entertainment at E3 2012 yesterday to take a look at how they plan to change this forever, and from the short hands-on time we had, it’s looking like they just might.
Ranging from basic child-friendly social MMOs and turn-based RPGs to complex RTS, Tower Defence and MMORPG titles, We Made Entertainment have a line-up planned for 2012 that looks to cover all bases, and although we’ve never been huge supporters of the mobile MMO space ourselves, these titles have already made a serious impact in our perspective of just what is capable when the right developers are behind the wheel.
