Star Citizen has raised a further $1 million towards the phenomena that is its crowdfunding campaign in just 5 days, bringing the current amount to a huge $77 million, with over 850,000 backers. The game is already the most successful crowdfunding campaign of any kind on any platform and with the funds still growing constantly, Star Citizen looks set to be a game of epic scope as every additional penny raised will go towards expanding the scope of the universe.
To aid in further funding of the hotly anticipated crowdfunding hit, Roberts Space Industries is selling the A3G Vanguard deep space fighter ship from now through until April 6th for $250. Designed as a “bomber-destroyer”, the ship features “forward-mounted weaponry designed to tear through the shields and armor of other spacecraft.” With laser cannons and a huge Gatling gun, the ship is sure to do some serious damage, as well as looking exceedingly cool with its slick design.
The announcement of the Vanguard states that the ship is being offered to help fund the development of Star Citizen and that all of the limited-time availability ships will be available in the final universe for in game credits, as well as all of the decorative flare items. However, the ship will not be available in game just yet as while it meets RSI’s specifications, it isn’t quite ready so this is a ‘concept sale’, which includes “Lifetime Insurance on the ship hull and a pair of decorative items for your Hangar. A future patch will add a Vanguard poster and then once the in-game model is finished you will also be given an in-game Vanguard mini ship model! In the future, the ship price will increase and the offer will not include Life Time Insurance or these extras.”
