WG Fest Offers Look Ahead for World of Tanks 2017

What does World of Tanks 2017 look like? That was part of a report from WG Fest, Wargaming’s first-ever convention which took place this past Saturday in Moscow, Russia. According to the rundown, the coming year will be focused on refinement and adjustment, as well as the expected new vehicles.

A couple of these new vehicles were shown off during the event; the Soviet Object 252 prototype tank and the Swedish Strv S1. Existing tanks will also be receiving heavy focus, as the team plan to continue rebalancing Premium Tanks. A rundown of the adjustments made to several Premium Tanks was outlined, from Patch 9.15 to 9.17.

Several Tech Trees will also see refinement. German Tech will be getting two new heavies and several adjustments to tier V-VIII Mediums and Tigers. Japan will see improvements to the Type 4 and Type 5 HEAVY tanks while also balancing tiers V through VIII. Finally, the American T28, T28 Prototype and T95 will be seeing improved speed.

World of Tanks will also see a complete overhaul of the Matchmaker system, and the second iteration of the Sandbox Server, which will be broken up in to two different phases for focused testing.

The briefing of WG Fest’s look ahead can be read here.

Our Thoughts

It sounds like 2017 will be seeing a lot of attention paid to what’s going on under the game’s hood instead of outright new content, and that’s just fine with us. World of Tanks’ formula seems to be in a good place right now, and further refining the game to make it feel more balanced makes perfect sense.

Your Thoughts

What do you think of the future of World of Tanks? Are you pleased with what the team are looking at doing, or would you rather see something new to shake things up? Tell us in the comments.
