Pokemon Go Buddy System Announced

A post by Niantic on the game’s Facebook page has announced an upcoming Pokemon Go Buddy system coming to the mobile game.

The new feature will arrive with the next version update of Pokemon Go and will allow players to assign a Pokemon as their Buddy. Assigning a buddy will give Trainers in the game “unique in-game rewards and experiences” like earning Candy for the Buddy Pokemon by walking a certain distance. Buddies can also be switched at any time.

The new update for Pokemon Go has no specific release date offered in the post.

Our Thoughts

The Buddy system sounds like a great way to power up your favorite Pokemon, though the distance required to earn enough Candy to power up your Buddy is something to consider. We’re looking forward to seeing how the new Buddy system works when it gets released.
