Supercell is doing great things for the world again. The company behind hit mobile game Clash of Clans is once again partnering up with Apple to sell special “(RED)” cosmetic in-app purchases for its games. All proceeds from these in-app purchases for Clash of Clans, Boom Beach and Hay Day will be donated to The Global Fund To Fight AIDS.
This is one of the many promotional events taking place this week to raise money for AIDS charities, but Supercell being one of the leaders in the gaming market is quite notable, as it is one of the top-grossing mobile studios in the world.
Supercell is doing incredibly well too, as the company reportedly tripled its revenues last year thanks to Boom Beach and Clash of Clans. Over the next few days, a small portion of these earnings will go directly to a financial organization that dispenses funding for AIDS treatment and research.
Apple isn’t sitting still during this time of year either, as it does this sort of charitable promotion across its retail and digital fronts every single year. In previous years, the company had similar partnerships with both Supercell (back then just for Clash of Clans) and other game developers like Rovio (Angry Birds).
We love it when game developers do something special this time of year, and Supercell has shown continuous support for AIDS charities and we’re glad they keep doing it too. Way to go Supercell and Apple!
