Gamigo and Aeria Games Merger Announced

Two of the leading European publishers for MMO games have just announced joining forces! The Gamigo and Aeria Games merger is a strategic step for both companies according to the press release, and will enable them to progress on the browser and mobile market segments that each published was operating in.

As you may recall, Aeria Games is based in Germany and will be publishing Bless Online in North America and Europe. One of its greatest hits has been X-Legend’s MMO Aura Kingdom, as well as Nexon’s MMO Shaiya.

The two publishers boast a very good synergy with one another and anticipate their joint efforts will lead to a significant growth towards a leading market position.

As part of the transaction, ProSiebenSat.1, the owner of Aeria Games, is contributing its 100% holding in Aeria Games to Gamigo and will become a minority shareholder in the merged publisher with a 33% stake. ProSiebenSat.1 acquired Aeria Games Europe in February 2014, and has particularly focused on growing the mobile side of the publisher’s business.

Our Thoughts:

Aeria Games was undoubtedly going to grow with the release of Bless online, which is a very interesting even if not so well known yet MMO for the Western players. The merger seems to place the two companies in a very advantageous position on the European and North American market so we hope to see more exciting games published through this new partnership.
