Virgin Active has announced plans for a Pokemon Go 5K run in London, UK on Wednesday, July 20th.
The 5K run will be guided by a licensed fitness instructor and will begin and end at the Virgin Active Walbrook fitness club. The route will circle through London and along the river Thames to help players capture water types as well as others found within the city. The run will arrive at several Pokestops along the way and will also feature a variety of outdoor body weight training exercises to further challenge players to keep in shape. The event is free for all members of the Virgin Active fitness club, but those who are not enrolled can apply for a space via Virgin Active’s Twitter page.
This is easily one of the best uses for Pokemon Go that we’ve seen, and we hope that it prompts other such events across the entire globe. Pokemon Go is a motivating piece of software that has prompted people to explore their world more openly and try to get fit. We love this idea!
