Vainglory’s 5v5 Gets a Release Window

We already knew that a Vainglory 5v5 mode was on its way and were anticipating more details during the mobile MOBA’s world championship in Singapore. Those details have indeed arrived, offering a bit more information on when the anticipated mode will land to players.

Vainglory’s 5v5 introduces new technology to the mobile gaming space according to the announcement, including true line-of-sight fog of war and precision controls. The MOBA’s proprietary E.V.I.L. game engine is now capable of pushing more polygons and more in-game characters at a 120 FPS framerate, which made the new 5v5 mode ultimately possible. All of these updates are promised to run on all devices that are able to run Vainglory’s current 3v3 mode.

“We are very proud to present an unapologetic, uncompromising game to the next generation of players,” said chief technology officer Tommy Krul in a statement. “We at Super Evil Megacorp are a group of gamers and game industry veterans, on a mission to deliver the very best multiplayer experiences to touchscreens.” adds CEO Kristian Segerstrale.

Vainglory’s new 5v5 mode will arrive with the game’s 3.0 update in February 2018. The MOBA’s esports scene will also see an expansion as a result of the mode next year with expanded team rosters and focus on the new mode. A trailer for the update can be seen below.

Our Thoughts

If this update to Vainglory’s engine really does work as well as hoped, then this most definitely means some impressive things for Vainglory players and possibly for mobile MOBA gaming as a whole. We’re certainly interested in seeing how this new update will be received by fans.
