Two legendary D&D authors + familiar Forgotten Realms faces = a Neverwinter module firmly on our radar.
R.A. Salvatore Returns to Collaborate on Latest Neverwinter Module: Northdark Reaches
Legendary D&D author R.A. Salvatore and his son/co-author Geno have once again teamed up with Cryptic Studios to deliver the latest Neverwinter module, Northdark Reaches. The module is inspired by Salvatore's very own The Way of the Drow book series, and will feature a flurry of familiar Forgotten Realms characters and locations, which is exciting news for supernerds everywhere. Unless they're arachnophobes, that is.
Northdark Reaches focuses on the first two books of the The Way of the Drow series, and comprises the first of a two-part campaign. Quite surprisingly for Neverwinter's 24th module, this will be the first time ever that players will encounter Forgotten Realms celebrities such as Rumpadump, Saribel Xorlarrin Do'Urden, and Minolin Fey.
The new Neverwinter module will also feature the first persistent Underdark Adventure Zone within an entirely new region of the Underdark. This Zone will include:
A new campaign to discover the fate of Braelin Janquay, friend of Bruenor Battlehammer, featuring a series of epic new quests
New bosses including drow warden Levira Vandree, drider Ilvara Mizzrym, and the Keeper of the Gate
New rewards including helpful gadgets, the Dark Maiden's Gear set, Item Level 1600 Companion Equipment, and powerful Blaspheme weapons
The new Neverwinter module will also include a major content update to the Temple of the Spider dungeon that features new and revamped bosses, enemies, and rewards. Here's hoping for the rewards to include a giant glass-and-paper weapon for Lolth.
Regarding the latest Neverwinter collaboration, R.A. Salvatore himself had this to say: "I was thrilled to team up again with the Neverwinter team at Cryptic. Working with the team for the Neverwinter's 8th module, Underdark, was fantastic, so when the team asked if I wanted to work with them on a new two-part adventure for the game, I gladly accepted the opportunity.
"Being able to expand the Way of the Drow universe within the game was something I couldn't pass up. I hope all Neverwinter players, especially those Drow and Way of the Drow fans, enjoy embarking on this new adventure, and getting to experience the beginning of what's to come!"
Northdark Reaches is available for free on PC, PlayStation and Xbox as of right now.
