Battlefield Play4Free is a free-to-play online first-person shooter by EA, drawing game elements from both Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2. The game runs on a modified version of the Battlefield 2 engine, improving a lot of the graphics while reducing system requirements. This enables players who aren’t able to run Bad Company 2 to enjoy a piece of its action, while playing a quality title in the Battlefield series for free.

The game runs on the same model as [Battlefield Heroes](http://www.mmogames.com/game/battlefield-heroes), providing a leveling system and in-game store. Players can level up and purchase new weapons, gadgets and skills for vehicles. The game offers a large array of weapons and armor to customize your layout and 16 vehicles to drive on any of the five currently available maps. Battlefield P4F updates some old classic maps from Battlefield 2 such as Strike at Karkand and Gulf of Oman, and does a very good job at improving some already brilliant maps.
The classes in Battlefield Play4Free remain the same as is to be expected from a game in the series as players may choose from Assault, Medic, Engineer or Recon. A lot of the weapons in the game are class specific, and your character may only play one class; so pick carefully! It can be a little stressful to find yourself stuck in the alleyways of an urban map with only a sniper rifle.

If one thing stuck out the most it would be the new visual upgrades, improved animations and gameplay. Textures now run at a higher resolution, motion blur has been added and a lot of the gameplay now functions as intended.
