That means, if you want to become the best player that you can be then ideally you should choose your late game weapon as early as possible.

The Fire Staff. Unless Amazon Games decides to nerf it, the Fire Staff seems like the best weapon for both large-scale PvE content like War as well as for scorching hoards of squishies in PvE. Why? Because it’s area-of-effect attacks (the Flamethrower) do devastating amounts of damage in tight spaces.
There is a caveat to this judgement, the Fire Staff only excels at later levels once it is upgraded enough to not hoover up your mana. At early levels, the Fire Staff is not so effective. But from a tactical perspective, that’s all the more reason to start using it early.

1v1 battles admittedly require a different approach for both PvE and PvP; if you think New World 1v1 battles will be your focus, then we’d suggest building a Dexterity focused character and utilising the Rapier. Specifically focusing on the Grace mastery will allow you to dodge and deflect blows with a speed and precision that your opponents will find impossible to counter.
