This week, Epic Games is living up to its name and surpassing just about every gimmicky advent calendar available by offering 15 days of free games. Just the offer of a handful of indie titles would be enough to have many scrambling to download their distribution service for a look-in, but with the 15-day countdown opening with the acclaimed Cities Skylines - which currently sits at £22.99 on Steam - it’s a good sign of things to come.

In one of the most Christmassy moves this year, the digital distribution service is giving its users 24 hours per day from now until the end of the month to download a number of mystery titles. This means that whatever game is available during that 1-day window can be downloaded and kept forever, for absolutely free. Bargains don’t get more epic than that.

Whilst online speculation touted legendary titles such as The Witcher 3 and Borderlands 3 as being just two of the titles to emerge over the next 2 weeks, it remains to be seen whether the leak maintains any element of truth given that the same list opened with Dying Light. Pretty different to the city planning simulator we got instead.

But the Christmas cheer doesn’t end there, as the Epic Games Store is also slashing prices - even the likes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla - as part of its 2020 Holiday sale. So set your reminders and free up some memory as you’re probably going to have a pretty busy 2 weeks of downloading a bunch of free games. And playing them, of course.
