It looks like the video game industry has a new superhero, and it’s a jellybean in a chicken outfit. Fall Guys is becoming a familiar face in the feel-good Friday portion of our news, perhaps its their innate ability to put smiles on peoples’ faces that drives them to maximise that feel-good factor. Whatever it may be, they’ve done it again with today’s mental health charity livestream, starting at 4pm GMT.

Developers Mediatonic and the UK’s video game industry trade body, Ukie, are teaming up with famous faces from across the industry to raise money for three mental health charities: Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), Head to Toe and Safe in Our World by streaming a Fall Guys session and perhaps showcasing the new Season 3.

One such famous face joining the stream is BAFTA award-winning actor Troy Baker, star of The Last of Us, BioShock Infinite and the star-studded Death Stranding.

“Games have such a powerful role to play in improving mental health across the world,” said Troy Baker. “I know this stream will be a lot of fun and our goal is to not only raise lots of money but also awareness of the work that mental health charities are doing across the world. Together we can make a difference to so many lives.”

The event is part of the wider Play&Talk industry initiative, which supports the national #LetsTalkLonliness campaign to encourage people to overcome loneliness through gaming and chatting to their pals.

The stream will be taking place from 4pm-6pm GMT today (18th December) via Mediatonic’s official Twitch channel so make sure you swing by to watch one of the most entertaining games available right now and potentially even donate some money to some worthy causes. Just to top it all off - Ukie has also launched, with the support of CALM, a new resource for using games to overcome loneliness this Christmas, so check it out.

But the feel-good doesn't end there, as Gamigo has teamed up with the Eden Reforestation Projects in a bid to plant trees through gaming. For every purchase of a special Christmas charity package from gamigo, Eden pledges to plant trees around the world - with 113,100 trees so far being planted by locals, totalling over 1,000 days of employment for individuals and families in need.

Participating players can check out how their chosen game is faring in the leaderboards on the charity page and the cooperation event will be running throughout December, so make sure to pay them a visit and treat yourself to some game packs while treating the world to some more trees. Happy Friday!
