Calling all creatives: The FFXIV Weapon Design Contest returns. And as a game that is known for its ostentatious arsenal, there’s plenty of scope for designers to go wild with their ideas.
The Prizes
From now until 4th October 14:59 GMT, inventive adventurers can make a killing via their designs in more ways than one. The Weapon Design Contest will see entrants create weapons for each ‘category’ - i.e. job - with one grand prize winner to be selected from each of the 18 jobs. Each of these overall winners will see their handiwork realised in-game and receive one extra special in-game item.
However, up to 400 runners-up will also receive their fair share of prizes. 100 finalists from across all of the categories will receive one Great Paraserpent in-game item. Meanwhile, 300 runners up from across every category will also receive:
- 1 x in-game item package containing one Bluebird Earring, one Scarf of Wondrous Wit, one Mandragora Choker, one Ahriman Choker, one Noble Barding, one Gaelicap, and one Modern Aesthetics - Strife.
How to Enter
To enter, designers must be 13 years or older at the date and time of entry. Designers must also use the templates provided by Square Enix and designs must be submitted as a digital image. Designers are also able to submit multiple entries, though they must be unique and submitted separately.
It is necessary to have a Square Enix account upon entry, along with a character in FFXIV. It seems that SE are also anticipating a large number of entries, as winners will not be selected until 31st March.
