The gaming research company Newzoo has released a new Global Game Revenue Report entailing the revenue spent on games per country, in a top 100 list. We have approximately 7.2 billion people on this planet, with about 2.97 billion people with internet access. Of those with access to an internet connection, there are reportedly 1.8 billion gamers. These gamers have spent about $82 billion on games in the last year, and these types of games can range from smaller mobile games, to indie games, to giant triple A video games you buy for your PC or console.
The data coming from this report, clearly shows that the market has grown considerably. Noticeably, countries and regions outside of North America and Western Europe are growing.
“The market has become a truly global playground, and the lion’s share of market growth can be found outside of mature markets.”
