The third phase of the epic Elder God Wars has arrived - and it’s a real stinker. But…in a good way? The Croesus Front is the latest dungeon for Runescape adventurers to tackle, and features the Elder God Bik. Bik has decided to call upon a big, stinky fungus monster that leeches the power of the dead. So hold your breath.

The Croesus Front is staged in the Senntisten graveyard where the citizens of the Zarosian capital are buried. These bodies represent a tasty morsel for Croesus, an enormous sentient fungus that feasts on organic matter. However, there is a twist to how this particular beastie can be bested.

Defeating Croesus

Croesus is Runescape’s first ever skilling dungeon boss. This means that combat is a no-go, with players instead being required to use gathering skills to win. Skilling nodes for Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing and Hunter are scattered throughout the graveyard, allowing players to harvest fungus to create new consumables or repair and craft armour. Players must be level 88 or above in the respective skill, with enhanced nodes requiring level 92.

Subduing Croesus will require players to summon the spirits within the graveyard. Croesus’s gross tendrils are blocking the graves of four mighty heroes of the Second Age. Use Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing and Hunter skills to clear the fungus, then repair the heroes’ statues and pray to them to call upon their aid in subduing the boss.

Croesus Front Rewards

Subduing Croesus will yield some hefty rewards - including:

  • The Cryptbloom Armor set. This Tier 90 Magic tank armour will bestow greater benefits with each set piece equipped.

  • Two new skilling off-hands in the form of Tagga’s Core Hammer Mining off-hand, and Sana’s Fyrtorch Woodcutting off-hand.

  • Splintering and Deathspore Arrows.

  • Seed Bag - an item that stores up to 40 different types of seed.

  • Grasping Rune Pouch, an upgrade that holds up to four different runes and bestows a +4 bonus to Prayer.

There’s plenty more information on the official news page. So check out what’s in store and prepare to start huntin’/minin'/woodchoppin'/fishin' some fungus.
