Stormblood is FFXIV’s second expansion, and can be downloaded to keep right now.
FFXIV’s Stormblood Expansion is Currently Free to Download
Anyone who missed the Final Fantasy XIV hype train around the time of Endwalker's release are being given another opportunity to get their foot in the door. Because Square Enix's latest promotion is offering everybody the chance to download Stormblood for free.
Stormblood is FFXIV's second big expansion, and introduced the Red Mage, Samurai and the notoriously hard-to-master Blue Mage jobs. For anyone that has only played through the FFXIV Starter Edition content, which includes the base game and first expansion, Heavensward, this could be a pretty exciting job to sink their teeth into. After all, they've already demonstrated the necessary patience by waiting for this Stormblood offer.
Stormblood also tasks players with liberating Ala Mhigo and Doma from the Garlean empire, introduces swimming and diving gameplay, increases the level cap to 70, and introduces a smattering of new locations and dungeons to explore.
For anyone who hasn't yet picked up Final Fantasy XIV, now's as good a time as any to give it a spin. The Stormblood promotion does require an active FFXIV subscription, but getting an expansion for free is pretty good bang for one's gil.
The promo campaign will run from now until Monday May 28th at 6:59 a.m. (PDT). And the best part is that anybody who redeems Stormblood during this campaign will be allowed to keep it forever, even after the promotion ends.
Evidently, Square Enix is looking to grab new and returning players with this offer, because the Free Login Campaign is also back in full force throughout the same period.
This means that returning players can enjoy four days of free FFXIV time upon logging in for the first time. To be eligible for this, players must have previously purchased and registered for FFXIV, and have an account that has been inactive for at least thirty days.
