The current season takes us back to the game's beginnings

Written by Nico Trendelkamp at 11/07/2023, 07:40 AM

If you're currently playing Fortnite, the experience feels like a little trip back in time.

With the start of "Chapter 4 - OG Season" in Fortnite, things are getting nostalgic, if you want to call it that. Fortnite has only been officially on the market for a good five years, but it is already reminiscent of the good old days. Anyone who starts the game these days will be sent on a journey through time, as the island on which the spectacle takes place is once again the environment you know from Chapter 1 - Season 5. There are shopping carts, ARKs, assault rifles, pump guns and more. Among other things, there is also the Zero Builds mode again, in which it is not possible to build any constructions, for example. Instead, you can expect areas familiar from the past, such as Tilted Towers and Loot Lake.

But that's by no means all. Over the course of the season, you can expect even more content from previous versions of the battle royale shooter. Content from Season 6 is also planned, such as the aforementioned Loot Lake area. There will also be corresponding weapons that were introduced at the time. Content from Seasons 7 and 8 will also be released, when the whole world was shrouded in ice and pirate camps appeared all over the map. You will even be able to relive the time when the game world became unstable, namely Seasons 9 and 10. Even the Season Pass offers corresponding content, which, according to Epic Games, can all be earned in four weeks. That's always over 50 items. New leaderboards are also at the start and will be supplemented by Ranked Cups. You can find out when the corresponding tournaments will take place here.

Epic Games has obviously hit a nerve with this. The new season started three days ago and Epic Games was able to record the most successful day in the game's history on Saturday. A total of 44.7 million players were online that day, clocking up more than 102 million hours of playtime. At its peak, over 6 million players were online at the same time.
