Project F4E is an inspiring indie venture whose creators' mission was clear from the start: to create a game that would combat loneliness. Happily, the advent of the first chapter (or more accurately, 'Prologue') means that this worthy endeavour is all but assured. And for an extra dose of the feelgood factor - we've been given F4E keys to play it on Steam for free.
F4E is a unique fantasy title with a focus on PvE & co-op gameplay. Fighting each other to the death doesn't make for a healthy start to a friendship, after all. It combines the teamwork and skills of a MOBA with the high-octane adventure of an MMORPG dungeon run as teams of Rift Knights are tasked with closing Rifts that are spewing enemies across the landscape.
Teamwork and savvy use of skills will garner success and riches. So far, so standard. But as any dungeon-raiding MMO lover can attest to - the real riches are the friendships made along the way. And that sweet sentiment is one that BetaDwarf has doubled down on.
We first covered BetaDwarf's valiant efforts to combat loneliness in the height of the event-that-shall-not-be-named. Their primary goal for F4E was to create a title that would spark lasting friendships through the power of gaming. And it is through mechanics like the 'Friendship Funnel' - a system by which strangers are re-matched if they enjoyed their time together - that they aim to accelerate this in F4E.
