Alongside two free DLC packs, $5 worth of free Steam credits await new players in World of Warships.
$5 of Free Steam Credit to Celebrate 5 Years of World of Warships
There are a few more freebies to nab in the meantime!
Anniversary giveaways are typically quite generous. They also typically give away items or features specifically related to the game being celebrated. But in a move that blows many giveaways out of the water, Wargaming is giving away $5USD of free Steam credit to new players. Sound a little too good to be true?
Well, like most things, there is a caveat. Namely, the free Steam credit offer extends to new players who must first complete a pretty tall order: acquire the Warrior achievement. Specifically, this requires winning a grand total of 50 random battles within the timeframe of November 18th - December 17th.
But hey, at least this 'play-to-earn' mechanic is a little simpler than what we're used to in the NFT space. Wargaming promises that all those players who reach this milestone will find a neat $5 added to their Steam wallet within one week.
If winning 50 battles in the space of a month seems a little out-of-reach to WoWS noobs, however, there are a few more freebies to nab in the meantime. Two DLC packs, including the beginner-friendly Dreadnought Starter pack and Steam Anniversary Party Kit, are available to download for free as of right now, both of which total $30USD. Which isn't too shabby.
On top of this, players can also get their hands on a new Steam-themed battleship camouflage via a special mission marathon. The camouflage was designed in a community competition for the battleship King George V, and can be unlocked alongside credits, economic bonuses and a Super Container across seven stages.
And the World of Warships anniversary celebrations don't end there, as players can also net themselves another Steam container and several camouflages by completing a three-part mission chain, the end of which will bestow a special Steam Patch and background cosmetics.
