Players have to wait a little longer for the Genshin Impact new year update, but they’ll be rewarded for it.
The Genshin Impact New Year Celebrations Arrive with Version 3.4
It's official, January 18th is when we'll be embroiled in the Genshin Impact new year celebrations. The annual Lantern Rite event, two new characters, and a brand new area will mark the occasion, with the typical smattering of rewards available to make it extra worth your while.
Update 3.4 is entitled "The Exquisite Night Chimes" and will bring in the Genshin Impact new year in style. The Lantern Rite will include a music festival featuring guests from far-flung places alongside a Paper Theatre performance that Travelers will have a direct hand in delivering. Mini-games and events will allow players to reap rewards throughout the festivities, including ten +3 Intertwined Fates, a four-star Liyue character and Lisa's new outfit.
Meanwhile, two unique competitions will be taking place in Inazuma. The "Warrior's Spirit" contest will see players duke it out using traditional Inazuman sword techniques, while "Beetle Brawl" has them dueling with Onikabuto.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Genshin Impact update without the arrival of some new characters. This time, the newbies make the most of the recently introduced Dendro element. Alhaitham is now playable as a five-star sword wielder who can create "Chisel-Light Mirrors" to convert attacks into Dendro Damage and increase the damage dealt by Elemental Burst.
Yaoyao, meanwhile, is a four-star character who wields a polearm alongside the adeptus-crafted device "Yuegui", which can augment damage or heal teammates. Yaoyao also won't spook nearby creatures when she approaches them. Both characters will be available in the first half of the update's Event Wishes.
As for the new area, the Desert of Hadramaveth can be found in the northwest region of Sumeru. The desert is forever wracked by storms brought about by a permanent tornado found at its center, continually unearthing buried secrets. The accompanying World Quest will involve searching for a long-lost orchard.
Version 3.4 is set to land on all platforms on January 18th including PlayStation, PC, Android and iOS.
