A Wowhead fundraiser is distributing myriad gifts in return for donations to the Trevor Project
Feelgood Friday: Support the LGBT+ Community with the Wowhead Fundraiser
In case the rainbow-washed internet hasn’t given it away, it’s currently Pride Month. And during this all-important month to celebrate the LGBT+ community, we feel it’s vital to highlight those organizations that go the extra mile in their support. Especially when that organization is typically dedicated to all things World of Warcraft.
This month, a Wowhead fundraiser is being held in aid of The Trevor Project with a goal of reaching $25,000. The Trevor Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing suicide within the LGBT+ community.
The organization reaches out to LGBT+ youths through a 24/7 lifeline, texts and social media. Its own social media platform, TrevorSpace, is the world’s largest safe space for LGBT+ youth providing education, research and advocacy programs.
The Wowhead fundraiser asks for participants to donate what they can, with various milestone rewards lined up as they near their $25,000 goal. These are as follows:
$15,000: Pride Sticker $20,000: Pride Magnet $25,000: Random Bonus Pin
However, there is also a chance for participants to guarantee themselves an exclusive Wowhead Pride Pin by donating $25 or more throughout June. Donating $25, $50, $75 or $100 will net one, two, three or four pins, respectively. Shipping is worldwide where possible, and the pins cannot be found anywhere else but through the event.
As an extra reassurance, Wowhead has stated that 100% of the donations will go straight to The Trevor Project.
The pin itself was designed by artist Girma Moges, and was chosen thanks to the positive response to last year’s Wowhead Pride logo. And to be fair, we’d say that response is warranted.
