MidBoss invites us all to Season of Pride 2022 celebrating the LGBTQ+ gaming scene while raising money for amazing causes.
Feelgood Friday: Midboss Season of Pride 2022 Fundraising Starts Today
Pride month may be over but the rainbow spirit lives on in gaming. MidBoss Season of Pride 2022 continues for its fourth annual event, celebrating LGBTQ+ diversity in gaming through a series of streams hosted by various gamers throughout July.
Season of Pride is an event designed to celebrate positive representation of queer characters in video games and figures in the industry.
The event was founded in 2019 by MidBoss, a games and media production studio behind such titles as Read Only Memories: Neurodiver, whose M.O. is to help make the world a safer and more inclusive place for marginalized people through the magical medium of video games.
This year's Season of Pride will run from today through Saturday July 23 and aims to raise money for a series of relevant charities including The Trevor Project, Trans Lifeline, Minus 18, Mermaids UK, GaymerX, Black Girls Code, Women in Games International, and Girls Who Code, whilst showcasing some of the best LGBTQ+ games and streamers.
Last year's event raised just under $30,000 for charity, and amassed more than 21 years of viewership for LGBTQ+ streamers and gamers.
"We are so grateful to host another Season of Pride to shine a spotlight on all the great LGBTQ+ games and content creators and to support the mission of some great causes," said Cade Peterson, CEO of MidBoss. "Donate early, donate often! Add some games to that backlog and feel good about it!"
This year's event will include a Nintendo eShop sale on LGBTQ+ titles including Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers, Steven Universe: Unleash the Light, Sword of the Necromancer and more.
Steam is also joining in on the fun with a sale and event features discounts on LGBTQ+-themed games whilst shining a spotlight on upcoming titles. Annapurna Interactive, Devolver Digital and Green Man are a few companies also throwing their weight behind the event.
As for the streamers, DEERE, JeffBrutlag and UrbanBohemian will be playing games featuring representation of queer characters, themes and stories in marathons across three weekends.
As we await the full schedule of events, be sure to keep an eye on the official Season of Pride 2022 website.
