Murder at Castle Nathrius stars some familiar faces and the plucky protagonist, Murloc Holmes.
WoW Wednesday: The Next Hearthstone Expansion Takes us Back to Shadowlands
The game is afoot in Hearthstone. Specifically, the next Hearthstone expansion, which is dragging us to everyone's favourite afterlife: the Shadowlands. And the enigmatic Sire Denathrius takes centre stage.
Murder at Castle Nathrius takes the form of a murder mystery, headed up by brilliantly named protagonist Murloc Holmes. It's enough to make you wonder if the next Hearthstone expansion was built entirely around the character instead of the other way around.
The mystery begins as Sire Denathrius plays host to a crowd of friends, rivals and enemies in order to prove that he hasn't been hoarding anima. And for his troubles, he ends up murdered.
Along with his pint-sized companion, Watfin, Murloc Holmes must uncover the truth behind this scandalous Shadowlands murder. There are ten suspects in all, with each one being a legendary minion of each class.
Murder at Castle Nathrius will launch on 2nd August with 135 new collectible cards. It will also introduce a new Keyword: Infuse. Infuse is a mechanic that is centred around a core Shadowlands plot point: anima.
Every card with the Infuse keyword sitting in the player's hand will absorb anima from friendly minions as they die. After the specified number of minions have met their doom, the Infuse card will transform into a more powerful version.
A new card type, Locations, will also be introduced. These cards represent the entirety of the Castle Nathria grounds, and can be played on the battlefield for an initial cost. They can then activate unique abilities for free on the player's turn, unleashing a powerful effect each time.
Each activation costs 1 Durability and has a 1-turn cooldown. As for solving the murder: each class has their own Location card which is where they claim their suspect was at the time of the murder, which synergizes with the theme of the card.
As we eagerly await the release of the next Hearthstone expansion, more and more of the new card will be steadily uncovered over time. To see all that has been revealed already, and the dates for the others, check out the reveal schedule. For all other information, check out the official news site.
