The OTK Games Expo showcased promising new titles, including one of OTK's own making.
Star-studded OTK Games Expo Unveils an Exciting One True King Project
The anticipated OTK Games Expo took place yesterday within OTK's brand new WePlay Esports studio. The expo was designed to showcase a slew of indie developers and their projects with a pool of $50,000 to dish out to two winners. But that wasn't OTK's only involvement, as they hit us with yet another big announcement.
OTK - or One True King - is a gaming organization founded by some of the biggest names in Twitch-dom, including Asmongold and Mizkif, to produce all manner of mostly game-focussed content creation and esports shenanigans. Think 'Hype House' but… way, way nerdier. And better.
In any case, the organization has gone from strength to strength since its advent in October 2020 which recently culminated in the OTK Games Expo - the collective's biggest project yet. The Expo was a way for the organization to showcase the projects of some indie devs while viewers voted for their favorites. The top two received their share of $50,000 from OTK ($30,000 for first place and $20,000 for second), whilst viewers had a chance to nab some Razer loot in the process.
The winners were RDBK Studios' Renown - a multiplayer Medieval survival game - and Axan Gray's Neodash - a neon-soaked racing platformer replete with sick beats - who came first and second, respectively.
But it wasn't just these two that received the indie spotlight yesterday. OTK themselves announced that they will be partnering with Notorious Studios - an indie developer composed of ex-WoW devs - to create a Tolkein and WoW-inspired fantasy title called Project Honor.
The Project Honor partnership is part of Notorious's plan to on-board their core demographic from the earliest stages. In fact, details surrounding Project Honor are particularly scarce owing to its early development stage. All we know so far is that it will be a fantasy game with classic features such as mages and warriors.
But one thing that's for sure is that getting the likes of Asmongold - who has a lot of gaming opinions that his vast audience tend to agree with - to lend his voice to a game's development should yield some interesting results.
