TERA Classic SEA is looking to capitalise on the TERA-shaped hole left in many peoples’ lives.
Does TERA Classic SEA Herald the Return of TERA?
TERA is back, baby! Well, okay, that might be a gross exaggeration. But a "new" mobile MMO from Playpark is at least looking to fill the TERA-shaped void in fans' souls. Will it help reinvigorate the fan base by diverting from the F2P (and P2W) model that condemned its predecessor? Of course not, it's a mobile game. But who knows, perhaps it will help stoke that sense of nostalgia while you're out and about.
And there's good news for the curious TERA-deprived as it was just announced that TERA Classic SEA will release on mobile on November 2nd. TERA Classic SEA is set to release in 11 Southeast Asian countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. As for when it will reach Western shores, the jury's out. But we can at least get a good look at the game beforehand.
As it is a mobile game, pre-registration rewards aplenty await including scrolls for title and uncommon pets. Coins, elemental stones, and more uncommon pet scrolls can also be earned by inviting friends to sign up. There is also an unusual competition wherein people can vote for their favourite streamers, cosplayers, or VTubers for a chance to win a bundle of tech.
With that in mind, it looks like TERA Classic might not be the reboot that fans were hoping for. Despite what the name suggests, it looks like this title is far from the TERA players knew and loved. Mobile MMO fans should feel at home in the reimagined mobile spinoff (with an emulator PC port, to boot) but we don't anticipate much but disappointment for PC and console-playing lovers of the original TERA.
But for now, we'll keep our ears to the ground and hope for the best when it comes to a Western release. Though short of a pretty substantial overhaul, we think it might just be best to admit that TERA's finest days behind us. That said, you can't fault the trailer...
