The WoW Arena World Championships are back, baby! AWC Shadowlands Season 2 is edging ever closer and we’re all raring to go after what will be a three-month dry spell. Season 1 ended with the AWC Program Manager saying of the two winners “These are hands down two of the best teams to ever compete in the AWC.” So if you needed any more reasons to catch it, we'll let that tall praise do the convincing.
The AWC Shadowlands Season 2 Circuit will see the valiant contenders vying for their share of the $160,000 prize pool. The four-week round-robin will commence on 31st July with the top four teams in each of the two regions advancing to the 2021 Grand Finals.
The AWC Shadowlands Season 2 Circuit Teams
The top six teams from each region of the Season 1 Circuit will be joined by the top two from the Relegation Cup. This saw some plucky new challengers face off against the bottom two teams from each region. Which paved the way for MyWay and Badluckbones in EU and Borngood retirement fund and Shadow Word: Chicken in NA. So the final line-up is as follows:
Skill Capped EU (Season 1 Champs)
Ad Hoc Gaming
North America (NA)
Method NA (Season 1 Champs)
Borngood retirement fund
Hamsters and Hares
Shadow Word: Chicken
TBD (formerly OTK Network)
In case you hadn’t noticed, Chains of Domination released yesterday. So the AWC Season 2 Circuit 2021 will accordingly take place in-situ. Bringing with it a completely new meta, and a new nail-biting reason to see how the teams fare.
Having spent some time immersing themselves in the Public Test Realm for the new content, the AWC casters had some thoughts:
Sid “Supatease” Compston – “I'm anticipating Feral Druids, Assassin Rogues, and Death Knights to land in top competitive spots. Most teams don't have access to Feral Druids or Death Knights as "main classes" so teams may be likely forced out of their comfort zones to learn new specs or we will see Old Meta vs New Meta. OTK is likely very excited to tear things up with Lord Mes.”
Elliot “Venruki” Venczel – “I am incredibly excited for patch 9.1! With new honor talents as well as changes to existing ones, we’re in for a real shake-up in the meta. We’re going to see brand new compositions and new class specialization rise for the competition. I’m looking forward to seeing these teams experiment with the new changes, early adopters will have a big edge in S2 of the AWC!”
Mohamed “Ziqo” Beshir – “I think the thing I'm most excited about is the new honor talents! Watching the best players get creative with how to use them will be very fun to see, some of them have so much potential like the frost mage ice wall! I think we're going to see some big changes in the arena meta in 9.1. The teams that will be the best at adapting to them will have momentum early on in AWC S2.”
Be sure to keep a close eye on the official YouTube channel as things get underway. We’re in for a good one this year.
