As Dual Universe players are no doubt leaving their mark in its early stages of release, Novaquark recently announced the addition of a brand-spanking-new Public Test Server. Basically, this means you can shape the Dual Universe universe while you shape the Dual Universe universe. Reminds us of an archaic meme.
The Dual Universe Public Test Server (PTS) allows active subscribers and Alpha backers alike to test the waters with potential new features and improvements. It’s a playground for eager fans to indulge in the newest toys, then feed back to the devs before a final rollout. In fact, players have already begun previewing the 0.24 update.
Of course, the Dual Universe Public Test Server is a hub of prototype features, meaning players shouldn’t expect polished products. The trade-off for getting to try things out first is that they’re often far from perfect, so if you prefer a glossy gameplay experience then perhaps the PTS is not for you. Plus it’s worth noting that the server may be taken offline at a moment’s notice or completely wiped, so don’t get too settled. On the flip-side, having immediate access to new content will afford players the chance to formulate strategies surrounding the new changes before its final rollout. Should certain features also require a specific amount of equipment or resources, then PTS players may be given the resources for the sake of ease. So, you know, free stuff.
With that in mind, having players test and feedback on potentially game-changing features is an infinitely useful tool to the Dual Universe devs, so we would encourage anyone to let loose and dabble in some new-fangled content as much as possible. The current PTS will be enjoying a run until 2nd March, so feel free to make the most of it while you can and swing by the PTS forums to stay in the loop.
