Following an announcement from CCP Games yesterday, today we welcome the second Quadrant of 2021: Foundation. EVE Online’s latest Quadrant will focus on celebrating the four pre-eminent empires of New Eden and coincides with the EVE 18th anniversary celebrations. After all, the Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, and Minmatar Empires comprise a large part of EVE’s extensive history. So they probably deserve at least a little bit of birthday cake.
For those that don’t know, the Quadrants that divide the four quarters of the year (yep, we’re already a quarter-way through) are designated a theme that focus on a specific aspect of EVE. These themes are directly related to the content that players can expect to see that Quadrant. For Foundation, expect some events, art updates and rewards that embody the pride of the four empires spread out over the course of the Quadrant.
“The Empires of EVE Online have evolved since the game’s launch in 2003. Each one has its own strengths and identities that our players have come to appreciate over the years,” said Bergur Finnbogason, EVE Online’s Creative Director. “As EVE turns 18, we want to give these empires the limelight they deserve.”
Capsuleer Day
Before all that, however, is the big 18. Last week, EVE Online called out to players to help compile game-defining clips from the last 18 years. From personal achievements to titanic space battles, player submissions could bag them a whole load of PLEX among other rewards.
Next up, from 6th May, Capsuleer Day begins. Running for 12 days, the anniversary event will give players the opportunity to earn a heap of in-game rewards, followed by the Foundation events that celebrate EVE Online’s mightiest empires. There’s still more information on Capsuleer Day to be released, so we’ll keep a close eye on the announcements.
