With competition afoot, for how long will it last as the fastest Elden Ring speedrun?
You Won’t Believe How Fast This Elden Ring Speedrun Is
We've said it before, but speedrunners are a different breed. While the rest of us mere mortals languish in the difficulty curve, it was only a matter of time before these god-tier gamers saw the sprawling and challenging open world of Elden Ring and thought: "give me one hour." Distortion2 was one such individual - and now seemingly holds the record for the fastest Elden Ring speedrun. And that number won't stop shrinking.
Distortion2's speedrunning experience extends back for years, blitzing through titles like Getting Over It in 1:56 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in 22:22. But there's no doubt that his recent domination of the Elden Ring speedrun world-firsts is thanks to his experience tearing through previous Souls titles.
Seven years ago Distortion2 beat Dark Souls II in 16:20 - which was the record at the time. And for the last few days, he has been tirelessly chipping away at his best Elden Ring speedrun time, and in the process may well hold the current record.
Just two days ago, Distortion2 uploaded the 'world first sub-40 minute run', beating the game in just 37:15. A feat made all the more impressive when considering that the last part of his 'first playthrough' was uploaded just two days prior.
But Distortion2 didn't settle for that world first. Since the first sub-40 run he has uploaded three more record-breaking speedruns, with the most recent uploaded just hours ago and boasting a surely insurmountable 28:59 run time.
At this rate, we wouldn't be surprised if Distortion2 will once again beat that time. So to catch it in real-time, be sure to check him out live on Twitch and witness the spectacle.
