The new Harry Potter mobile game Magic Awakened announces their pre-registration perks.
The New Harry Potter Card-Based Mobile MMO
As Potterheads wait for the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy, another new Harry Potter mobile game is in the pipeline to tide us all over until then. And with the Potterverse being on everyone’s mind thanks to the upcoming release of** Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore**, Warner Bros. Games and NetEase are treating everyone to some pre-registration perks.
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is a free-to-play collectible card multiplayer duelling game set for release on mobile devices. Players can partake in duels with others or battles with magical creatures by collecting spells and charms in the form of cards. Summons, meanwhile, are cards which summon magical beasts into the fray to aid in the plight of the player and their allies.
With the upcoming film being all about these magical beasts (and Dumbledore’s secrets, apparently), the pre-registration perks comprise two such beasts: the Niffler and Baby Manticore Summon Cards, each as part of the Fantastic Beasts Card Pack. Only prospective players from the Americas, Europe and Oceania can partake, however.
Fans of the latest Harry Potter film series will need no introduction to the Niffler. The cute mole-like companion of Newt Schemander sports a long snout and black fluffy fur. It also has a special affinity for ‘acquiring’ shiny objects - which in the new Harry Potter mobile game translates into an ability that will help players restore their magic points.
The Baby Manticore, meanwhile, is a direct link to the infant Manticores introduced in The Secrets of Dumbledore. This Summon Card will provide more offensive capabilities, with Baby Manticores banding together to swarm and overwhelm the enemy.
We can expect Harry Potter: Magic Awakened to release later this year. And if the Portkey Games label started by Warner Bros Games is anything to go by, there are more Harry Potter mobile titles to come. We wonder if ‘cash cow’ counts as a magical beast?
