A new EVE Online update introduces cheap war machines to New Eden's masses.
New EVE Online Update Brings Discount Dreadnoughts and Dynamic Sieges
A new EVE Online update is inbound, with a focus on capital combat, structural defense, and cheaper dreadnoughts. Hopefully there's enough space in New Eden to cater for a dreadnought spike.
The magnanimous crew at CCP Games have seen fit to bring major adjustments to the blueprints of industry components that are used for battleships, capitals and supercapitals. Changes that have brought lower manufacturing times and costs. And dreadnoughts in particular will find their costs significantly reduced to prices that are truly out of this world.
To celebrate this cosmo-economic boom, the New Eden Store is now stocked with a bunch of returning battleships and capital cosmetics. SKINS will include Raata Sunset, Ghostbird, Glittering Dream, Lavacore and more from today.
However, that's not all the new EVE Online update brings. Big changes to the reinforcement mechanics of Upwell structures has seen their shield damage cap removed. While medium structures will receive +100% shield hitpoints, -75% hull hit points and their hull reinforcement timers removed. Large and extra large structures will also receive +25% shield hit points.
Removing the medium structure hull reinforcement timer means that armor reinforcement becomes the only timer. Meaning medium armor timers will now follow the following schedules:
- Highsec: 4.5 days ±3 hours
- Lowsec & Nullsec: 2.5 days ±3 hours
- Wormholes & Pochven: 1.5 days ±3 hours
- War HQ: 24 hours
Those who wish to defend medium structures, therefore, will need to do so on the medium armor timer.
These changes are intended to make for more interesting battles for all structures, forcing players to become more strategic and sieges to become more dynamic. For instance, doing away with Upwell structure shield caps will make the tedium of shield bashing a thing of the past.
Needless to say, there's some planning to be done to cater for the changes in New Eden. There will be plenty of chancers looking to capitalize on the accessibility of dreadnoughts and the newfound dynamism of the siege. So jump into New Eden ASAP to make preparations.
