The announcement of the new Unreal Engine 5 fantasy MMO Pax Dei has us all excited.
Pax Dei - An Exciting New Fantasy MMO From CCP and Blizzard Devs
Another new fantasy MMO trailer just dropped, and this one seems to tick all of the boxes. We know what you might be thinking: another MMO we'll probably never see added to the pile. But we've got every faith that a team comprising devs from both CCP and Blizzard are going to deliver.
Pax Dei is a new fantasy MMO that feels like development studio Mainframe Industries' attempt to deliver all the best bits of the genre. Two "high-level concepts" are at its core, and they should be plenty to excite any fantasy MMO lover.
The first is the vision of living in a fantasy world inspired by the traditions and legends of the medieval era. By this point, you know the drill. Myths, ghosts and magic are par for the course in this fictional universe. And they're going to look better than ever with development employing the stunning capabilities of Unreal Engine 5.
The second is the belief in human interaction as the "ultimate source of fun". Pax Dei is a sandbox MMO that allows players to set their own goals, and build the world around them from scratch. A modular house-building system will see players banding together to grow their villages and develop prosperous clans.
Meanwhile, players can charge headfirst into the action by venturing out from the relative safety of the Heartlands - the central hub for cooperative and creative gameplay. Exploring the wilderness will lead to danger and reward, with greater threats emerging the further players venture from the Heartlands. PvP is also present, as players can challenge one another for clan superiority.
Rest assured that Pax Dei is fully embracing next-gen tech as part of its development. The vast open world is rendered with Unreal Engine 5, with the next generation of Lumen and Nanite systems allowing for players to see for miles. All alongside thousands of other players.
The newly announced MMO is now open to willing participants that wish to jump straight into the Alpha. Sign up via the official website, and keep your fingers crossed for its arrival.
