Things are happening on PUBG's horizons.
PUBG Goes Free & New State Gets New Mode
The PUBG F2P transition is complete, with the battle royale king adopting the new model initially announced at The Game Awards. Meanwhile, its mobile progeny, New State, enjoys a hefty January update.
Anyone who purchased and played PUBG before the transition will receive the Special Commemorative Pack
The PUBG F2P Transition
Going entirely F2P does of course mean that there are other ways to willingly drop some cash on PUBG. The premium ‘Battlegrounds Plus’ upgrade comes with a one-time cost of $12.99 and the following perks:
- Bonus 1,300 G–COIN
- Survival Mastery XP + 100% boost
- Career - Medal tab
- Ranked Mode
- Custom Match functionality
- In-Game items, including the Captain’s Camo set.
Current PUBG owners - i.e. those who already bought the original version - needn’t feel cheated, however. Anyone who purchased and played PUBG before the transition will receive the Special Commemorative Pack, which includes:
- Automatic upgrade to Battlegrounds Plus
- Battle-Hardened costume skin set
- Shackle and Shanks Legacy - Pan
- Battle-Hardened Legacy nameplate
New State January Update
In other PUBG news, the mobile rendition New State is enjoying an update of its own. With it comes the new BR: Extreme Mode, which limits the number of players in a match to 64 as opposed to 100 and the time limit to 20 minutes. This will make for some intense matches as a smaller pool of contenders vie for that Chicken Dinner.
The January Update also brings a slew of new content, including:
- The Rimac Nevera cat in partnership with Bugatti Rimac
- New Season and Survivor Pass
- New P90 SMG
- New gun customisation options.
