In addition to new content, things like cheating, hit detection and other things are on the agenda with the upcoming season in Sea of Thieves.
More details about the 10th season
In exactly one week, on October 19, the 10th season in the pirate game will start after several postponements. Some content, such as the introduction of guilds, private servers and new sea voyages are already known, but now the English developer has released more details about previously unannounced changes in Sea of Thieves.
In addition to the obvious new features, Rare has been working with a special team for six months on better and more trackable hit detection. The developers have already incorporated some changes with the updates in August and September, but without announcing them. These measures were developed together with the players of the insider version of Sea of Thieves. For example, they have managed to ensure that nine out of ten hits are captured by both the server and the client when the distance is longer. But this is also to be improved further.
Cheating has been an issue for years, and Rare actively responds to problems and vulnerabilities as they arise. Just recently, there was a teleportation glitch that had a particular impact on hourglass battles. Along with other measures, the number of reports of cheaters in the game has been reduced by 30 percent in recent weeks. But the developer also admits that it is constant cat-and-mouse game. Therefore, Rare will react to emerging problems in the future and additionally install anti-cheat software. However, they are not yet in a position to release further details on this.
With the 10th season, there will also be a number of improvements and bug fixes for swordplay. Attacking and blocking should be a consistent experience for all players. Therefore, the player who lands the first hit will get a small advantage for the first combo, while the attacked player will have to worry more about blocking and dodging in the initial phase. In return, blocking should work better if the attacker is in front of you (i.e. in your field of vision). In addition, the feedback for hits will be improved for both sides. You will also have to adjust to changes when you use firearms. The popular double-gun play, where players carry two firearms and switch between them to shoot faster, will be removed. The time between two shots will be adjusted.
Of course, the new season in Sea of Thieves will once again feature 100 levels with all sorts of different items. Owners of the Plunder Pass will get a few more things. New goods in the pirate bazaar and the other stores at the outposts are also not to be missed. Possibly with the coming season there will also be the announced animated pictures that you can hang up in the ship. In addition, Halloween will soon be upon us once again. You can find the corresponding cosmetic items in the Pirate Bazaar.
