Released earlier this year, the closed beta for Triad Wars has definitely had its share of problem. It was announced earlier today that the game will be closing its doors early next year.
If you have the urge to roam the streets of Hong Kong in the Sleeping Dogs universe, you only have a few more weeks to live out that desire. As of January 20, Triad Wars will be shutting down for good, according to a statement on the game’s forum.
“Since the start of the Triad Wars Closed Beta this year, diligent Enforcers have run rampant through the streets of Hong Kong, killing rivals and building Empires. During this time we have gathered immense amounts of feedback, information, and data on the game. We’ve loved seeing how you’ve played Triad Wars but we know it wasn’t right for many of you so we’re letting you know today that we are going to close the beta and service on January 20th 2016 at 12 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.”
As of right now, Triad Wars is no longer accepting payments and will be issuing refunds for unused premium currency. Furthermore, gold will be available free of charge in order to allow players the best experience possible until the servers are shutdown.
Despite its short lifespan, Triad Wars was not very well received. Players looking to enter a new world based on Sleeping Dogs were generally let down. It’s unfortunate to say that this one will probably not be missed.
