Back in June, Microsoft revealed its Xbox Game Preview at E3. This got people super excited, obviously, and a bunch of titles were revealed that would be released on the service. One of these titles was DayZ, but it has now been revealed that the game will not launch through Game Preview this year.
Yeah, we know that is a major bummer. The reason being that DayZ’s team is focused mainly on bringing the best possible PC version of the game before focusing on console. Though a console prototype is expected in the first quarter of 2016, this is not the news console gamers were hoping for, clearly.
For those who don’t know; Xbox Game Preview is an Early Access program that allows users to purchase games in-development and provide feedback all the way through launch. It’s basically like Steam’s Early Access, except it’s for console! Some of the titles announced at E3 in June have surpassed the Game Preview stage and grown into full products since then, like Elite: Dangerous. You can always check out DayZ on PC if you don’t feel like waiting for the console version, so you might find some comfort in that.
Fortunately, DayZ is already available for Early Access on PC, so you can already get a taste of it now. For those of you who only want to play it on console, let’s hope you don’t have too long anymore. We’ll, of course, keep you updated on any news surrounding the Game Preview release of DayZ.
