EA Shutting Down Dawngate

It has been revealed today that EA’s Dawngate MOBA will be shutting down in 90 days. Dawngate has spent most of 2014 in beta but it was decided that development on the title would stop. Dawngate’s Group General Manager Matt Bromberg announced the shut down to the world. In the announcement he said, “Dawngate has been in beta for almost 18 months, including a full open beta for the past six months. Through that time, we’ve taken a lot of feedback from players and delivered lots of new features and innovations. And although the game has grown, we’re not seeing the progress we’d hoped for. This isn’t the outcome we wanted, but beta testing is about learning and improving, and ultimately, about making difficult decisions about how to proceed.”

This comes as a complete surprise to fans who have taken to Reddit to discuss their disbelief. The Dawngate website has been so inundated with views that the site isn’t loading the news. As such EA released it again on the official EA website where you can read the full text of the announcement. There has been no word yet on what this means for the studio, Waystone Games or the staff. Beta testers will recieve full refunds for anything they purchased during the beta within the next 10 days.
