It was only last week that Hangame, publisher of Echo of Soul, announced that Echo of Soul would close down its South Korean servers on October 22, 2015. Now it seems that South Korea isn’t the only country to say farewell to Echo of Soul. China is now closing down its servers as well!
As to why the game is closing down in China on November 17 isn’t clear yet, as publisher ChangYou has not given a reason for its sudden shut down announcement. The last update for Echo of Soul China was back in June, so it was still fairly recent. Aeria Games did release a notice to assure gamers that the English server will not be affected after the closure of these two servers, as new content will still be provided by developer Nvius. They did so via the following statement to MassivelyOP:
“Aeria Games is committed to the enthusiastic North American and European players of Echo of Soul. While Echo of Soul will be discontinued in Korea by the Korean publisher of the game, this does not affect the future of Echo of Soul in Europe and North America. Developer Nvius will continue to create fantastic new content for Echo of Soul and Aeria will keep delivering a great game experience to all players. We’re currently ramping up towards the release of some long-anticipated content, which we will be excited to announce within the next few weeks.”
