Gamers Plan to Bike 352 Miles for Charity at Gamescom

From August 20-22, more than a dozen gaming cyclists will make the trek from Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, to Brighton, UK, in order to raise money for charity.

GamesAid, a UK games industry charity, and Hi-Rez studios will be working in conjunction to sponsor the fundraising event, which will begin on August 20. The event will fund multiple UK-based children and youth charities.

The course will take the riders through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France before they finish in Brighton, UK. For three solid days, the riders will average 110 miles, which puts it on par with Le Tour De France. Throughout the journey, Hi-Rez will be providing a van that will assist the cyclists along the way.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with GamesAid on what has become such an iconic UK fundraising institution,” said Hi-Rez VP of European Publishing Veronique Lallier. “In addition to the practical support we’ll be offering the cyclists, our community will be reaching out to them both virtually and, we hope, personally, boosting morale every pedal of the way. We wish them the very best of luck!”

During the past four years, Hi-Rez has raised more than $830,000 for charity. Those who wish to donate to the cause can find the sponsored link here.

Our Thoughts:

While there are many gamers who lover to raise money for charity, this definitely takes it a step further. We wish the best of luck to the cyclists and can’t wait for Gamescom ourselves.
