Initial rumors of changes occurring within Nexon America leadership have today been confirmed. Specifically, the company’s president has decided to step down.
According to MMORPG.com, current president Rich Williams will be leaving his post, while an executive from Korea will take over the position. A statement from Nexon America explains the move, revealing Williams’ time of departure and reasons behind the change.
Rich Williams has announced he will be leaving Nexon America at the end of the month to start his own marketing firm. We’re pleased to say Nexon America will be his first client. Jungsoo Lee, who is currently the executive director of live games and has been with Nexon America since he helped establish this subsidiary in 2006, will be promoted to lead the company moving forward.
There has been no indication from Nexon America or other sources that games operating under the publisher will be affected.
It all sounds like a reasonably amicable split, and this move will likely mean more to those working directly with Nexon America than it will for players of Nexon’s games. We wish Mr. Williams the best of luck in his new endeavor, and hope that Mr. Lee will continue to lead the company well.
