SteelSeries Rival 500 Mouse Revealed

A special gaming mouse designed specifically for MOBA and MMO players has been announced as the SteelSeries Rival 500 looks to offer “the end game” for multi-button gaming peripherals.

The SteelSeries Rival 500 provides a great variety of features designed for MMO gamers, including a total of 13 buttons – six on the thumb and seven along the top – a customizable Tactile Alert system that vibrates the mouse to inform you of procs, effects or stuns, and of course completely customizable button layouts, RGB color schemes and functions through the included SteelSeries Engine 3 software.

Specs for the mouse include a Pixart 3360 optical sensor with a CPI from 100 to 16,000 and 1:1 accuracy. The mouse itself is corded and the buttons have been tested to carry a 30 million click lifespan.

The SteelSeries Rival 500 is available at a cost of $79.99, and further details of the hardware can be seen on the SteelSeries site.

Our Thoughts

The Rival 500 looks like one of the most ergonomically designed and feature-loaded gaming mice to come out in a while. SteelSeries has always been a company of peripherals always seem to fall behind in popularity and performance to companies like Logitech and Razer, so we’re interested in seeing if this new mouse will bring something that MMO gamers will love.
