Warcraft Film’s Release Date Moved Back

We started yesterday less than one year away from the release date for Legendary’s Warcraft film based in Blizzard’s most popular universe. We finished it more than a year away. Yesterday Legendary and Universal both announced that Warcraft would be one of many upcoming titles getting delayed. Warcraft will star Travis Fimmel, Ben Foster, and feature Clancy Brown as Blackhand, the first Warchief of the Horde. It was originally set to release on March 11th, 2016 but has moved to June 10th, 2016.

During the same announcement Pacific Rim 2 was delayed several months. On the Universal side of things the upcoming “The Mummy” reboot has also been delayed. These announcements were made shortly after Universal’s CinemaCon panel in which they announced Fifty Shades of Grey sequels “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shade Freed” as well as a confirmation that “Furious 8” would be released in April of 2017. No reasons for these changes have been announced but it could simply be that they want their big geeky movies to release in the summer when traditionally movies do much better. Either way we continue to wait with bated breath for more information on the upcoming Warcraft film (and Pacific Rim 2 if we’re honest).
